Tobacco, cigarettes, gutkha, khaini and zarda will no longer be sold in Odisha

In 2013, the state government had banned the gutka, now the goverment another big step. The products which contains tobaco and nicotine have been completely banned. Including their production, processing, packaging, storage, sale, and distribution have been declared banned in the state. A notification has been issued by the state health department on Thursday.

"According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the World Health Organization (WHO), the consumption of tobacco products like zarda, khaini, gutkha, and other tobacco products is a major cause of cancer," The Health Department said. Furthermore, smokeless tobacco products like paan masala, paan, betel nut, and dhoop patta are also harmful to health.
